The  benefits of piano carry on through adulthood...
Learning to play the piano, and the study of music in general, engages both hemispheres of the brain.

Times are scheduled to accommodate working moms, dads, grandparents, or caregivers.
Course Description:
Prepares young musicians for instrumental study on the piano. This program introduces music concepts through a developmentally appropriate and joy-filled curriculum. Moves the child from experiencing to understanding music as we explore the concepts of note reading, performance, repertoire, ear training and rhythm. Provides an  excellent way to introduce children to the fun of music while learning about the unique qualities of the piano. Childrens’ natural curiosity about music is stimulated through various activities that include singing, moving, listening, and playing simple rhythm instruments.
Focuses on bringing children the joy of making music through playing the piano, actually learning the notes and fingering and tempo, as well as percussion instruments including the triangle, tambourine, maracas, drums and bells.

After completing this course, students will either continue to the next semester (s) or will be ready to progress to more formal instruction at A Prelude to the Classics Private Piano Lessons by Marcy in the Main Piano Studio. Kids class teaches treble clef and note reading and timing of notes, as well as an introduction to a variety of instruments including brass, woodwind, strings, and percussion. Advanced kids class teaches treble and bass clef, note reading, advanced timing, and students will perform in the recital at A Prelude to the Classics help at the Clubhouse in Prestancia in the ballroom with the private students.

Research studies prove that parental involvement in a young child's musical development is important. A parent accompanies their child to The Child Prodigy Series and assists with practice at home.

Children will play actual songs while learning to read musical notes on the piano. They will also learn rhythm through use of songs with percussion. Snacks included.  Maximum of 6 children per class

Costs:  $100 monthly. Children may begin at any time. Classes are held Wednesdays    5:30 - 6:15. Studio has child's size baby grand pianos for the children to play on during sessions.
